Welcome to the IPE!

At the Institute for Data Processing and Electronics (IPE), we explore the resolution limits for data acquisition systems of the future.

Our goal is to enable new insights in scientific experiments with the best instruments and methods. We focus on key technologies from detector, packaging and interconnection technology, analog and digital electronics, data transfer, efficient programming and data management.

The research and development activities of the IPE are embedded in the overall program structure of the Hermann von Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers. (HGF).

We are an international and interdisciplinary team with over 80 employees from 12 countries. Our experts come from a wide range of disciplines, from electrical engineering, physics and mathematics to computer science and medical technology. Nearly 30 PhD students are doing research at the IPE in an attractive environment on topics related to data acquisition. Every year we supervise about 80 students and trainees with their theses, internships and hired assistant positions.
